Thanksgiving Baskets: Starting next week, we will be collecting non-perishable foods to assemble Thanksgiving baskets for the Lennon Pregnancy Center in Dear-born Heights. Any cash donations will be used to purchase turkeys. In addition to food, we will also collect items that will be helpful and appreciated by new mothers and babies, such as baby wipes, bottles, etc. We will collect items through Novem-ber 24.
Group Study:The next gathering to discuss the book, "Weird Church: Welcome to the Twenty-First Century", that explores a shift in thinking about the future of church & ministry to become more connected to God's work and the community is at 6:30 pm, Wednesday, October 16th in the Library. Participants should buy the book. Used copies can be found at Amazon for $10-$15, including shipping. A Kindle version is available, too. There is also a free Study Guide you can down-load at www.epicentergroup.org. The study sessions should be eye-opening and inspiring! We hope you'll join in!
Noisy Offering: – Please give your loose change for our Samaritan's Purse Noisy Offering collection this morning. The organization's president is Franklin Graham, son of Billy Graham. Your support helps their worldwide work to provide physical and spiritual aid to suffering people in the Name of Jesus Christ and to continue shar-ing the love of Christ and the hope of the Gospel to more than 100 countries around the world. Our coins are collected in metal buckets so we hope to hear a lot of noise! Silent dollar bills will also be gratefully accepted.
Coloring With a Twist - November 7: Bring your favorite beverage and join us for a fun evening on Thursday, November 7 at 6:30 PM for a Coloring Party. Snacks will be provided along with coloring books and pencils. Feel free to invite family and friends.
Blankets for Kids: We are hosting a program called Blankets 4 Kids, a program of Child’s Hope. It is going to be on October 16 at 7 pm. It’s kind of like a quilting be, only instead of quilting we will be making fleece blankets for children who are experiencing abuse and neglect and entering the foster care system. The contact people are Judy Buck or Carol McAdam who live in Springwells. There’s a sign up sheet in the Mayflower Room.
Sleeping Mats for the Homeless Project: This is an ongoing project where any-one can make sleeping mats from plastic shopping bags. The group meets on Mondays from 6-8 pm at First Presbyterian Church, 600 Brady St. Dearborn, MI 48124. Bring your bags and your friends. Prayer List Update We've updated the prayer requests listed in our Sunday bulletin. If someone's name has been removed and they are still in need of our prayers, please contact the church office at 313-271-8552 to have their name added back on the list. To keep our list current, we will date when the prayer request is received and after a month, unless it is renewed, it will be removed.
'Restorative' Yoga at the Church: Karen Lawrence would like to restart yoga at the church. This time, a less-intensive version called "restorative yoga" will be of-fered. Poses are held, but at a less intense pace and there will be a break during the sessions. Ideal for ALL AGES! Participants need to bring their own yoga mats or blankets. Classes will take place in the Mayflower Room. The cost is $5 per session with all proceeds going to the church. If you're interested, please let Karen know in person or by email at email@example.com
Group Study: Coming soon...John Peters will lead a series of group discussions of the book, "Weird Church: Welcome to the Twenty-First Century", which explores how to create a new form of church emphasizing spiritual growth tied to becoming more welcoming to outsiders and becoming relevant in the community. Dates and times TBD. You do not need a copy of the book. Reading material will be provided. A signup sheet will be posted.

Strengthen the Church Offering: Our Strengthen the Church Special Offering begins today. As God calls our local congregations to be the Church in new ways, your gift will help create new churches, awaken new ideas in existing churches, and develop spiritual life in youth and young adults. Special offering envelopes will be in the pews through June 9.
Downriver for Veterans: We are collecting non-perishable food items for Downriver for Veter-ans located on Fort Street in Wyandotte. Only in its second year, this organization needs on-going support to assist local resource-limited veterans with food and other needs. Some veterans are on disability income and don’t have enough to pay their bills and buy gro-ceries. You can place your donations in the Totes of Love bin in the back of the Sanctu-ary. Please check the expiration date to make sure items have not expired. Thank You!
